there will be none of this...

Weekend Update...

Wow! ugly today... Any colder and it would be snowing. Race today was good in South Surrey, nice and muddy. Real cyclo-cross... Update on Provincials, road the proposed course on Friday with the one and only 2-time Singlespeed World Champ for a little constructive feedback and I think between the two of us, we have a winner of a course, one that will have you all smiling from ear to ear. It is a course which will suit good bike handlers. Added a few off camber corners and a nice end of the lap "fish bowl" corner. Trust me, you'll like it! Nys would ride it...

I have also decided to take advantage of the infield of the running track for the race so for those of you who bring out shop tents or "warm up" tents to the races (you know who you are...) I would ask that you NOT set them up in the parking lot or side of the road but rather work with me to create a "tent village" on the infield of the running track. I would like to have tents lined up on either side of the course on the inflield where racers will come in hot from the south end of the track, make a 90 degree turn and head back out while entertaining you with their barrier happing skills in the mean time... Should make for a cool atmoshere and lots of cheering while maximizing coverage in case of rain. If you are coming to the race to represent your local store, I would encourage you to bring the shop tent.

We're OFFICIAL!!!!!! the race is ON!

...got the good word from the city of NV today and we are all set to go with FINAL approval. The race is on, Sunday November 29th! Walked the potential course today with Cycling BC's cross official and ironed out a few potential ideas to spice things up a little... The venue has some interesting terrian and I hope to be able to maximize it to make a fun, fast and challenging course, worthy of a Provincial Championship. I am working on the full schedule for start times and categories and will post it in the next day or so. Cycling BC will post on-line registration as well in the next day or so... Race fee's will be same as every other cross race this season, $25 for pre-reg and $30 day of. Provincial Champion jerseys will be awarded as well as medals for the top 3 in each category. Great prizing as awell cash for the Open Men's & Women's categories... More to come...

Driving Directions to Mahon Park

http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=mahon+park+north+vancouver&gl=ca&hl=en&cd=3&ei=wXX3Sp7WN6GQswOL58GaAg&ie=UTF8&view=map&cid=16300734406221668278&iwloc=A&ved=0CA8QpQY&sa=X

gett'in it going...

meeting with the City of NV, Cycling BC officials tomorrow morning to put the finishing touches on everything. I have a great course in mind, just want to be sure we get all of the proper approvals for the venue. Some highlights of Mahon Park: 400m gravel track, stadium, paved path, lots of grass, natural wooden stairs, CHANGE ROOMS, wash rooms, covered registration and spectating, ample parking, easy to find location. Mahon Park is at Jones and 17th in North Vancouver. Easiest way to find it, head down Lonsdale from the Upper Levels Hwy until you hit 17th. Make a right and follow it all the way across to Jones. Mahon park is on the right, you can't miss it... it is HUGE! stay tuned for more...
